At Eastern Mountain Sports Schools, we’ve been helping people like you try new things, learn new skills, and have more fun outside since 1968. We offer climbing, kayaking, paddleboarding, hiking, and skiing programs for people of all ages at locations throughout the northeast.

In addition to pre-scheduled group lessons and guided adventures, we offer customized private lessons and tours for individuals as well as families, school groups, summer camps, university outing clubs, and company groups. Be sure to ask us about adaptive programs for adventurers with different physical or mental abilities, because the outdoors is for everyone!

Find Adventure in North Conway, New Hampshire


North Conway is synonymous with east coast climbing and skiing. From our office in the center of town, we have access to some of the best and most famous rock, ice and skiing areas in the world. Variety of terrain, easy access and beautiful landscapes are but a few reasons why many people come to North Conway to climb and ski.

 

Whether you’re rock climbing on Cathedral Ledge, braving extreme winds and cold temps on a winter ascent of Mt. Washington, or skiing a dream line in Tuckerman Ravine; you are sure to have a fun and adventurous experience with us in North Conway!

Discover New Paltz (The Gunks), New York



Join us in exploring the Catskill Mountains as they transform into a winter wonderland. With 35 peaks over 3500′, each new winter’s snowpack and ice formations give us a variety of ways to enjoy the outdoors.

The EMS Climbing School in New Paltz is approximately 90 miles northwest of NYC. Your day will start there, where you will meet your guide and get outfitted with all the technical gear needed for the day, including a harness, helmet, mountaineering boots, crampons, mountaineering axe, and ice tools. From there we will head up to the Catskills and spend the rest of the day in the elements, so come prepared to learn and have fun!
