Customer Spotlight: Tyler, Christian, and Mr. Bubbles
Recently Cordura Brand Fabric joined up with us to put on a photo contest. Â We wanted our customers to show they were tough just like the Cordura Brand Fabric we use in our daypacks. When all the votes were counted, the most popular photo was Tyler Danielson and “Mr. Bubbles” finishing Tough Mudder Pocono.
Who is Mr. Bubbles you ask? Well, Mr. Bubbles is a giant Teddy Bear. Coming in at 4.5 feet Mr. Bubbles attracts a lot of attention whereever he goes. Tough Mudders are difficult to begin with but add a giant Teddy Bear weighed down with water and you really have a tough challenge. The next question you might ask is why carry a giant Teddy Bear through a Tough Mudder? It happened that Tough Mudder Pocono was on Mother’s Day weekend. Tyler decided to take Mr. Bubbles along in memory of his mother. Since then Mr. Bubbles has taken off and become quite popular, having his own facebook page. He took on a GORUCK and Tough Mudder Vermont but isn’t stopping there. His calendar is filling up with more GORUCKS and Tough Mudders. Mr. Bubbles is even hoping to take on the NYC Marathon with Tyler this fall if he can raise $5000 for the Wounded Warrior Project.
Also a top vote getter for our photo contest was Christian Nelson, taking on Tough Mudder Vermont with his giant Teddy Bear Captain McGillicutty. Christian and Tyler are both part of a team that has raised $4500 for the Wounded Warrior Project so far through taking part in Tough Mudders. Tyler and Christian alone have combined to have taken part in 29 Tough Mudders. The guys are also part of Team FARM, a team for GORUCK challenges. When taking on the GORUCKS Team FARM raises money for the Green Beret Foundation. While most people entering our photo contest wanted to win an EMS daypack for themselves Christian and Tyler had another idea. Keeping with their fundraising efforts the guys will be auctioning off the bags they won. The money that Tyler gets for his bag will go to the Wounded Warrior Project and Christian’s bag money will go to the Green Beret Foundation.
While neither Christian or Tyler were in the military they both have huge respect for the armed forces, the Wounded Warrior Project and the Green Beret Foundation. At Eastern Mountain Sports, we love all our customers, but guys like Christian and Tyler have a special place in our hearts. Do you have an inspiring story to share? Tell us about it in the comment section and we might feature in a future Customer Spotlight post!
