Making Eastern Mountain Sports Club Day More Inclusive
Eastern Mountain Sports Club Day is one of our most cherished and anticipated traditions. Twice a year (spring and fall), outdoor clubs and organizations are invited to set up displays inside their local Eastern Mountain Sports store to share their stories, recruit new members and fund raise on the spot. Additionally, as a special thank you to outdoor club members who also happen to be some of our most loyal, long-term customers, we offer club members our absolute best deal that we are prohibited from advertising.
As we make the final preparations for our fall Eastern Mountain Sports Club Day event October 4-5, we’re excited to share some news that EVERYONE can feel good about.
Eastern Mountain Sports Club Day has been a terrific tradition but in recent years, we’ve come to realize that some of the most passionate and active outdoor clubs and organizations around don’t issue traditional membership cards. I’m talking about hiking Meet Up groups, some of which have hundreds, if not thousands of members and organize multiple trips every single weekend. I’m also talking about outdoor endurance events like Tough Mudder and Warrior Dash and outdoor fundraisers like Tubbs Romp to Stop, Seek the Peak and the TDI TriState Challenge.
As a result of customer feedback and to keep pace with our ever-changing times, we’ve decided to make Eastern Mountain Sports Club Day inclusive to people who love the outdoors every bit as much as we do but may not have a membership card to prove it.
The way we see it, anyone who plays hard and/or gives back in a big way while having a ton of fun outside is a bona fide member of “The Outdoor Club.”
Don’t get us wrong, we still believe wholeheartedly in chartered organizations like the Adirondack Mountain Club, Appalachian Mountain Club and Sierra Club to name just a few. In fact, if you’re not a member of one of our favorite outdoor organizations, please consider joining one to take your love for the outdoors to another level through stewardship, education and inspiring the next generation–core values of just about every formal outdoor organization under the sun–from Boy and Girl Scouts to Bikes Belong.
No matter how you qualify as a member of “The Outdoor Club,” Eastern Mountain Sports Club Day is your chance to get the gratitude and respect you deserve while enjoying one of our most exclusive discounts. Proof of membership can be anything from a traditional membership card, a race number, a photo of you giving it your all in an endurance event, even a hiking club Facebook page on your smartphone. Whatever it is, just bring it in to any of our 68 stores from Maine to Virginia and show it to the store guide at cash register. While you’re there, be sure to enjoy some quality time with people who share your love for outdoor adventure and get inspired for your next big outdoor challenge or special event.
Thanks for being a member of “The Outdoor Club.” See you soon!
