Hunter Mountain Hike

The Shawangunk and Catskill Mountains offer amazing hikes and climbs, especially if you’re training for some of the larger mountains in the Northeast or Western United States. Slide Mountain and Hunter Mountain are no exceptions, offering challenging hiking with spectacular views. With this outing, we’ll attempt to summit one of these Catskill Peaks. While trekking toward the summit, we’ll go over the different types of gear we could use, proper layering techniques, and other tips that will help make your future hiking fun and efficient.

IMPORTANT: 1) Weather and conditions may inhibit us from completing certain objectives outlined in this course. Please be open to a flexible schedule. 2) Groups classes require a minimum enrollment of three people. If you are booking alone for a group class your reservation is subject to change if minimum enrollment is not reached. Group classes are perfect for those with flexible schedules. Any class can be booked privately any day of the week. Private reservations are guaranteed to run. For information about private reservations please call 800-310-4504.

Groups meet promptly at 8:30am at the Eastern Mountain Sports in New Paltz, NY. Click here for directions. In the morning you will meet your guide, sign a waiver form, and get fitted with equipment for the day. Once everyone is outfitted groups will drive a few minutes up the road to the Millbrook Ridge Trailhead. Approximate hiking time is 6 hours round trip. Hiking time may vary depending on weather, trail conditions and overall pace of the group. The day will end 4:30pm at the latest back at EMS.
