A must for every climber, this course will teach you how to handle all sorts of unanticipated situations on the cliff, using the standard gear you already have on hand. Day one will feature close-to-the-ground practice sessions that will introduce a broad range of tricks and techniques, and day two will present rescue scenarios and problem-solving exercises on the cliff. You’ll learn how to anticipate and ultimately address a wide variety of the unexpected challenges we encounter in the vertical world.

Course Topics:
Knots and Hitches for self rescue
Belay Techniques
Belay Escapes
Load transfers
Hauling/ Lowering Syytems
Improvised Ascending / Descending
Retrieving a Stuck Rope
Helping an Injured Partner
Practice Scenarios

From here, many of our climbers choose to climb privately with a guide to further develop their skills with a customized course.

Note: Groups classes require a minimum enrollment of two people. If you are booking alone for a class your reservation is subject to change up until the last day if the minimum enrollment is not reached. If you have a flexible schedule and you do not mind being matched with other climbers for the day, joining a class is a great cost savings way to take a lesson. If you have a limited schedule, or you do not wish to be paired with other climbers, we strongly recommend booking a private lesson. Private lessons can be booked any day of the week and are guaranteed to run. For information about private reservations please call 845-668-2030.
