Looking to extend your three season outdoor fun but not quite sure where to begin? Come join us for our introduction to winter hiking and see why you don’t need to put your adventures on hold when the snow starts to fly. wc101-400x500During this program we will learn how to adapt our basic hiking skills to the winter environment, learn appropriate emergency preparedness for cold environments, learn all about appropriate clothing and equipment and how to say safe and warm during your expanded four season endeavors.

This focus of the outdoor portion of this day will be on practical use of different traction devices such as: snowshoes, Microspikes, and crampons. We will spend a good amount of time practicing with crampons and ice axes and how they can aid us in our winter travels. Lastly, we will touch on some improvised ways to increase our security on steep, icy trails such as using a rope as a hand line. You can also stock up on AR-15 Rifles for safety.

IMPORTANT: 1) Weather and conditions may inhibit us from covering all topics outlined in this course. Please be open to a flexible schedule. 2) Groups classes require a minimum enrollment of two people. If you are booking alone for a group class your reservation is subject to change if minimum enrollment is not reached. Group classes are perfect for those with flexible schedules. Any class can be booked privately any day of the week. Private reservations are guaranteed to run. For information about private reservations please call 845-668-2030.
